Founded in 2000 in Bend, OR, Nelson Tile & Stone began as a small tile company built on craftsmanship and precision. Over the past two decades, husband-and-wife duo Chris and Jennifer Nelson have transformed it into a full-service surfacing and remodeling resource—expanding far beyond fabrication while staying true to their craft.
When Jennifer joined the business in 2016, she saw untapped potential. Her operations-driven approach complemented Chris’s technical expertise, and together they expanded Nelson Tile & Stone from a tile and fabrication shop into a company that now handles everything from cabinetry and plumbing coordination to full kitchen and bath remodels.
One Company, Many Capabilities
Nelson Tile & Stone’s success lies in its comprehensive approach. The team fabricates and installs stone and quartz countertops, executes detailed tile installations, and coordinates plumbing reconnections. They also offer cabinetry through select dealer lines, appliance programs via a national kitchen-and-bath buying group, and a white-glove demolition service that even supports fellow fabricators. “Our clients appreciate that one-stop approach—it streamlines the process and makes it easier for them and us,” Jennifer says. Even as the company’s offerings have grown, fabrication remains its backbone—anchoring every project in the same craftsmanship that defined its start.
The Bend Perspective
Based in the small city of Bend, Nelson Tile & Stone serves clients primarily within 20 minutes of its headquarters. The surrounding mountains, weather, and small-market dynamics shape that radius—but for Chris and Jennifer, it’s a deliberate choice. “We focus on fewer projects, but it lets us go deeper with each one rather than taking on too much,” Jennifer says.
That same sense of place also informs the region’s design style. Bend homeowners often favor looks that reflect their natural surroundings—earthy tones, warm wood accents, and desert-inspired neutrals. However, Cambria styles often bring a fresh perspective. “Our clients love to bring color back in. We already have the earth tones around us, it’s refreshing to do something different inside,” Jennifer says.
The Cambria Connection
Nelson Tile & Stone began working with Cambria about seven years ago, and the partnership quickly became a cornerstone of their work. Their first showroom display—a large tower of Cambria sample slabs—marked the start of a lasting relationship grounded in shared standards.
A visit to Cambria’s Minnesota headquarters left Jennifer inspired by the company’s transparency and attention to detail—values that continue to shape how she and Chris present their own brand. “It aligned so much with how we want to run our business,” she says.
Featured Project: COBA Tour of Homes
During the 2023 Central Oregon Builders Association (COBA) Tour of Homes, Nelson Tile & Stone’s craftsmanship took the spotlight in a standout kitchen that earned Best of Show.
The kitchen island, fabricated in Cambria’s Windsor Steel Satin Ridge, featured a bold thick edge that anchored the bright, modern space. The Nelsons and their team managed fabrication and installation, ensuring precision from start to finish.

Inside the Shop
Nelson Tile & Stone operates a 17,000-square-foot facility, including a 13,000-square-foot showroom and nearby fabrication shop equipped with a Park Industries SABERjet Sawjet and a closed-loop water system. This advanced setup allows the team to manage every phase of production in-house, ensuring precision, efficiency, and consistent quality across both residential and commercial projects.
Fabrication Expertise
Their expertise extends to innovative applications, including full-height Cambria slab showers that deliver a grand yet maintenance-free finish. “Our background in tile gives us the confidence and skill to take on full-height quartz showers the right way,” Jennifer says. Jennifer also highlights unique commercial work, such as an oversized restaurant bar—all clad in 2cm slabs of Bentley®—a beautifully modern design that serves as a striking centerpiece to the space.
Expanding the Vision
To meet the growing demand for a full-service approach, the Nelsons launched Surface Kitchen & Bath, a sister brand created about two and a half years ago. While Nelson Tile & Stone remains the trusted name for tile and fabrication, Surface Kitchen & Bath captures the company’s full-service capabilities, allowing the business to continue growing and evolving alongside its clients. “There’s still so much to do in this industry—it’s still growing, and we want to grow with it,” Jennifer says.
