For Benjamin Knight, founder of Ad Astra Homes & Renovations, building has always been about reaching higher. The company’s name—Latin for “to the stars”—captures both his forward-looking mindset and the timeless quality he brings to every project. Founded in 2025 after Benjamin decided to begin a new venture of his own, Ad Astra is based in Northeast Ohio and specializes in custom homes and renovations that combine elegance, durability, and precision. Though the company is new, Benjamin’s career spans roughly $40 million in completed residential work throughout the Cleveland and Akron regions.
Building in Harmony
Benjamin’s professional path is far from typical. As a classically trained pianist and U.S. Army veteran who played across 37 states with the U.S. Army band, he sees a deep connection between music and construction. “To me, a project manager is the conductor. Their job is to get everyone playing in time, sharing one cohesive creative vision,” he says. “Music isn’t just about playing the right notes at the right time, it’s about creating a unified performance. The same is true in construction.” That philosophy now guides his work at Ad Astra, bringing every element of a home into harmony through communication, collaboration, and craftsmanship.
The Ad Astra Approach
For Benjamin, an integral part of the building process is his ability to communicate effectively with his clients. “Projects succeed or fail not solely based on construction outcomes, but based on communication with the client,” he explains. This allows him to anticipate issues early, guide decisions with clarity, and deliver results that meet his rigorous standards.
Benjamin personally manages each project from start to finish, ensuring that nothing is overlooked—from sound-insulating bathrooms to reviewing every mechanical system before walls close. He sets clear quality benchmarks at the outset and doesn’t waver. “We will never stray from our standards of bringing unparalleled craftsmanship and modern functionality,” he says.
A Proud Partnership with Cambria
Benjamin discovered Cambria in 2018 while studying construction management, and his first project using the material in 2020 left a lasting impression. He received unmatched service when a slab had a small blemish. The Cambria team came out immediately, and even though you could barely see the issue, they fixed it without hesitation. “That level of support speaks volumes,” he says.
The dependability, paired with Cambria’s status as a family-owned, American-made company resonates deeply with Benjamin as a veteran and small-business owner. The partnership represents more than reliable materials, it reflects shared values of integrity, craftsmanship, and service.
Standout Residence: The Fairmont House
Set within the historic neighborhood of Cleveland Heights, OH, the Fairmont House reflects Ad Astra’s commitment to craftsmanship and classic style. Collaborating closely with Lake Quartz, Ad Astra’s trusted Cambria installer, Benjamin transformed the residence into a true showcase of building excellence.
The chef-inspired kitchen features Inverness Everleigh, chosen for its natural depth. The design carries from the perimeter to the island and its custom inset end panels—a feat made possible by Lake Quartz. “We wanted the elegance of a waterfall, but with a more traditional look,” Benjamin explains.
Cambria surfaces appear throughout the home: In the powder room, Avalene™ clads an extended mitered vanity top, providing a grand feature for a small space. Remington Brass™ appears on a vanity top in the guest bath, while Inverness Everleigh extends across surfaces in the primary bath. Together, these materials create a timeless warmth inside while preserving the character throughout.

Innovating with Cambria
Benjamin is currently crafting a full-height shower clad entirely in Cambria. Featuring a built-in bench, continuous shelf, and integrated niche, “This design represents a new level of precision for us,” he says.
Building Beyond
With several new projects underway, Benjamin plans to expand Ad Astra’s presence across Northeast Ohio while remaining hands-on with every home.
