Safety: All Day, Every Day

We believe that safety is more than a priority, it’s a mandate.

We are committed to promoting the health and safety of all workers in the stone fabrication and installation industry. Our SafetyFirst program creates awareness and provides tools and relevant resources to support silica safety efforts.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) long ago identified exposure to respirable crystalline silica as a health hazard to workers in many industries working with silica-containing materials, including quarried stone such as granite and quartz surface products (OSHA NIOSH HAZARD ALERT). OSHA and NIOSH have implemented specific rules, regulations, and requirements to mitigate this hazard for workers involved in fabricating, finishing, and installing stone products.

We encourage members of the stone fabrication and installation industry to review the resources below related to fabrication/installation safety and OSHA regulations and requirements for preventing silicosis and other silica-related diseases, including engineering controls, comprehensive wet cutting/processing, air monitoring, and personal protective equipment when applicable based on air monitoring results.

Tools and Resources

As a leader in the quartz industry, we are committed to providing resources to fabricators and installers to support their responsibility of providing a safe and healthy workplace for their workers.

Silica Safety

We remain committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for our workers and believe that no worker in any segment of the industry should be exposed to dangerous levels of respirable crystalline silica in the workplace.

OSHA Resources

Exposure to respirable crystalline silica within the stone industry is entirely preventable through strict compliance with OSHA standards. We encourage OSHA to continue to inform and work with the stone processing and fabrication sector to ensure compliance with its standards.
