For Shane Brewer, founder of Legacy Homes, construction is more than a profession—it’s a family tradition. He grew up surrounded by the craft, with a grandfather who was a cabinet builder and a father who framed houses. Always interested in the field from a young age, he decided to study architecture in college and, at just 21 years old, launched his own company with his father.
What began as one or two homes a year has grown into about 25 annually. Based in Kansas City, Legacy Homes operates as a division of PJB Construction, the original company Shane founded in 1993, and serves clients throughout the Kansas City metro area and Northwest Missouri. The company is supported by an 11-person team plus a network of trusted trade partners.
A Trusted Design Partner
Legacy Homes’ longtime designer, Michelle Warrick, has partnered with the company for years, bringing two decades of interior design expertise to new builds and custom spaces alike. She works closely with Shane and the team to ensure every project reflects the client’s style and needs.
She values the collaborative relationship she has built with Shane. “One of the best things about working with Shane is that he has great design insight as a builder, but he also trusts me to do my job. That balance makes it possible for us to create great homes,” Michelle says.
The Cambria Difference
Legacy Homes’ history with Cambria stretches back many years. It has long appreciated the brand’s blend of beauty, durability, and innovation—but what truly sets it apart for Legacy Homes is the transferable Full Lifetime Warranty. “Cambria offers the only true lifetime warranty, giving us and our clients complete peace of mind,” Michelle says.
Legacy Homes also values the possibilities Cambria quartz surfaces offer that other surfaces can’t match. “We’ve done full-height backsplashes, custom desks, and full-height shower walls clad in 1cm lighter-weight quartz,” Michelle notes. “Cambria is the only product we’ve found that does all those things well.”
Equally important to Legacy Homes is Cambria’s wide range of styles. One bold, dramatic design Michelle is looking forward to working with is Remington Steel™. Dark and moody, with metallic veining and striking movement, it will serve as the centerpiece island in an upcoming kitchen project.
Parade of Homes Showcase
This year’s Kansas City Parade of Homes was an ideal opportunity for Legacy Homes to showcase both its craftsmanship and design expertise. The 4,000-square-foot, five-bedroom, 4.5-bath residence takes inspiration from the story-and-a-half homes of the 1990s, reimagined for modern living.
Cambria natural quartz surfaces make multiple appearances. In the kitchen, Inverness Blakeley is featured on the island, full-height backsplash, and perimeter countertops, with use of the textural design continuing into the walk-in pantry. Also on the main level, the half bath continues the cohesiveness by showcasing Inverness Blakeley on the vanity top, with a dramatic 10-inch mitered edge.

Additionally, the lower-level bar area displays the bold veining of Bentley® on a mitered edge waterfall island and the surrounding countertops. And Everleigh™ adds soft sophistication to the primary bath’s vanity top and shower seat.

Building for the Client
Legacy Homes’ goal is simple: to deliver homes clients will truly love. Its philosophy centers on guiding homeowners toward their own vision, creating spaces that feel personal and lasting. “We have experience, education, and opinions, but at the end of the day, we want them to love their home and feel this is a home they want to make memories in,” Michelle says.
Leaving a Legacy
For more than three decades, Legacy Homes has built a reputation for quality craftsmanship, collaborative partnerships, and homes that reflect the unique vision of each client. Looking ahead, Shane is prioritizing steady growth, adaptability, and maintaining strong relationships. “For us, success comes from strong relationships and welcoming new ideas—especially from our designer, Michelle, and companies like Cambria. That’s what keeps us building better every day,” he says.
