BeeTree Homes: Setting the Standard for a Better Craft

BeeTree Homes was founded in 2003 when kitchen-and-bath designer Katrina Hosea decided to become a licensed general contractor. She made the decision after seeing families—including her own family of six—living in homes that weren’t designed for how they moved, cooked, or gathered. However, her suggestions—such as adding a second kitchen pathway or opening sightlines for safety—were routinely dismissed by builders as “too much work.”

What began as her solo practice is now a full-service family business, with her husband Chuck Hosea and daughters Shelby and Jeanann joining the team. Today, BeeTree Homes completes 10 to 15 projects a year across Northeast Florida, specializing in luxury builds, whole-home renovations, and high-end oceanfront condos.

Where It All Began

The name BeeTree Homes traces back to Bee Tree Park on the Mississippi River in Missouri, a place from Katrina’s childhood that quietly shaped her love of architecture. She was captivated by an old Tudor-style home that overlooked the park, returning to it often without fully understanding why. One afternoon, when the home was under renovation, she slipped inside and wandered through the unfinished spaces—and felt a spark she couldn’t yet define. Looking back, Katrina recognizes it as a foreshadowing of the work she would one day pursue.

Good Design for All

Katrina’s design philosophy has remained constant: everyone deserves good design, no matter their budget. As a mother raising four children in a poorly planned home—where the main kitchen egress sat directly behind the cooktop—she remembers thinking, “I shouldn’t have to take a pot of hot water off my stove and worry about my kids running behind me.”

These frustrations became fuel, inspiring her to create not only kitchens but entire homes that function safely and intuitively for families. Awarded for her work, she became one of Jacksonville’s first female builders to win the Parade of Homes.

Cambria Connection

Katrina first encountered Cambria early in her career, when the design range was still growing. But everything shifted around 2018, when Shelby joined the company and BeeTree Homes began working closely with their Cambria rep. His passion and product knowledge showed them the brand’s versatility, durability, and performance.

Today, BeeTree Homes uses Cambria in at least one room of every project, thanks to the brand’s wide range of designs and transferable Full Lifetime Warranty, features that make it easy for their team to recommend and for clients to gravitate toward. Beyond that, the creative freedom Cambria offers has become especially meaningful to the BeeTree Homes team.

With Cambria’s newer options for backlighting and vertical applications, we can truly be artists with the material, using the slabs as art pieces within the home.

Standout Shower: For a condo in the Jacksonville Beach area, the bathroom renovation was envisioned around Cambria’s Golden Dragon™, a boldly expressive design that the husband fell for instantly—even as his wife remained unsure. The initial plan called for a single vertical accent of Golden Dragon inside the steam shower, already fully cladded in Berkshire Brass Satin Ridge™ and Woodcroft™.

But once the Golden Dragon slab was set, its impact was undeniable. Seeing it in place, the wife embraced the design and asked to carry it further. The veining now sweeps across the full bathroom wall and through a custom arched shower entry, where each panel is expertly fabricated so the pattern aligns across both interior and exterior surfaces.

Curated Kitchen: In this oceanfront condo, the kitchen embraces a cool, contemporary aesthetic defined by clean lines and stainless-steel accents. Windsor Brass Satin Ridge anchors the space, featured across the island, perimeter countertops, full-height backsplash, and striking range hood.

The real showstopper appears just beyond the kitchen. In the living area, the team installed two full-height vertical slabs of Skara Brae® flanking the media wall, creating a dramatic architectural moment that elevates the entire open-concept space.

The Feeling of Home

For BeeTree Homes, these projects reflect the belief that great design is ultimately about how a home feels. As Katrina explains: “I think of a home like a Christmas gift—you have the bow, then the wrapping paper, then the box, and finally the gift inside. Each layer should be just as beautiful as the last, revealing something meaningful as you move through it.”
