Create custom interior elements with Cambria quartz surfaces thanks to new bookmatch technology—the use of two mirror-image Cambria slabs, set side by side on the same surface just like the pages of an open book—that fuses both art and design. We love the effect so much that we even featured the technique as a 2021 trend in our annual design forecast.
The mirroring effect of bookmatching makes an impactful visual statement, dramatizes the aesthetics of quartz, and expands your design opportunities in both residential and commercial applications. And bookmatching is the perfect way to showcase the natural beauty of Cambria, transforming it into a powerful statement-making piece of art.
The bookmatching technique is bold and breathtaking, transforms any space, and has a symmetrical effect making the space feel custom and elevated. Convenient pre-matched slabs, precise vein matching, and a variety of layout options (think horizontal and vertical) enable the said stunning visual effects.

Available Quartz Designs for Bookmatching
Available in the following one-centimeter designs in both Cambria Matte® and polished finishes, consider bookmatching for applications such as wall cladding, shower or fireplace surrounds, backsplashes, and islands.
Bookmatching thus creates the kind of visual impact that can define even the most ambitious projects.
In the case of the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel, a newly opened four-star, mixed-use property in suburban Minnesota, the design team sought ways to implement a bold American Nordic theme while creating a distinctive experience in each type of space.
“The showpiece in our purple noir suite is the Brittanicca Gold Warm™ fireplace surround,” says Bridget Hale, senior interior designer, ESG Architecture and Design. “It’s really sculptural. We also carry that into the suite bath, using a bookmatch that aligns the veins, and it really adds a beautiful backdrop to the freestanding tub.”

Cambria is a nonabsorbent, full-slab material, so no steam or moisture can escape through its panels and there’s no grout to clean, making it perfect for bathrooms.
In an office breakroom, an oversize Cambria Bentley™ island stands out thanks to the bookmatching detail that highlights its scale. A horizontal bookmatch island offers options for extended island lengths, up to 262-inches in length with a 63-inch seam. That said, additional support is required for a one-centimeter bookmatch on a horizontal application. More technical resources are available here.

Bookmatched slabs are available to order through Cambria Customer Care with an estimated 14-day lead time, depending on the order. The bookmatched slabs must be purchased in quantities of two and are available in jumbo slabs only.
As always, Cambria will offer expert dedicated support and technical assistance through any stage of the project.
