Mastora Stone: Redefining Fabrication

Written by: Eloise Goldman

In 2019, longtime coworkers and friends Nick Callegari and Jose Amador founded Mastora Stone, a wholesale fabricator and installer based in Farmingdale, NY, on Long Island. After working together at another fabrication company, the two set out to build something of their own when they realized they could create a stronger model rooted in efficiency and transparency.

Today, Mastora Stone works closely with kitchen and bath dealers, designers, architects, and builders throughout the region. The company operates with a 30-person team out of an 8,000-square-foot showroom and fabrication facility in Farmingdale. Rather than marking up materials, Mastora relies on labor-based pricing and straightforward square-foot programs that simplify quoting for dealers, while providing technical guidance and fabrication expertise before stepping in to fabricate and install the surfaces.

The approach has fueled steady growth. Today, the team produces roughly nine kitchens per day, and the shop is nearing capacity at its current facility. Rather than pushing for rapid expansion, the partners remain focused on growing the business organically while maintaining the level of craftsmanship and service their partners expect. “We are not focused on rapid growth, but rather on making sure our craftsmanship and service continue to lay the foundation for the future,” Nick says.

A Cambria Connection from the Start

Cambria has been part of Mastora Stone from the beginning, though Nick’s familiarity with the brand dates back to earlier roles in the fabrication industry when quartz was still emerging in the market. Cambria remains one of the surfaces the shop fabricates most frequently, driven by strong demand from their partners and clients. “We use Cambria so much in our projects because of the trust the brand has in the region—with everyone from designers and dealers to homeowners,” Nick says.

That reliability extends to the fabrication process. “You know what you’re getting with Cambria. The material is consistent from slab to slab, which makes a big difference in the shop,” Nick says. That consistency allows the Mastora Stone team to plan and cut with confidence while executing precise fabrication techniques such as vein matching, waterfall edges, and diagonal seams.

Standout Projects: New York City Fabrication

Many of Mastora Stone’s projects take place in New York City, where installation often comes with its own set of challenges. Pre-war buildings frequently feature narrow staircases, tight landings, and no elevator access, requiring careful planning and creative problem-solving before a slab ever reaches the kitchen. As Nick explains, “A lot of this work happens before we even step on site.” But even with careful planning, challenges still arise.

Precision in Practice:  In this Brooklyn installation, the nearly full-slab Brittanicca Warm™ island could not make the tight turns up the building’s narrow staircases. The Mastora Stone team carefully sliced the piece in half, carried it upstairs in two sections, and reassembled it inside the apartment with such precision that the seam is virtually impossible to find. That level of precision reflects their skill as well as the material: “It really makes a difference when challenges come up on-site,” Nick says.

Brittanicca Warm carries from the island down a waterfall edge, across the surrounding countertops, and up the backsplash. The warm veining of the design complements the white cabinetry and warm wood shelving, creating a balanced and refined design.

Dark & Dimensional: Depth and contrast shape this Brooklyn kitchen, where Remington Steel in a Cambria Matte® finish brings a soft yet dramatic edge to the space. The design clads a peninsula with a mitered waterfall edge and continues up the backsplash. Matte black cabinetry, warm wood paneling, and gold fixtures create a layered composition that highlights the rich movement within the design.

Shaping the Future of Fabrication

In just seven years, Mastora Stone has carved out a distinct place within the fabrication industry on Long Island. The company was recently awarded Best of Long Island for Best Granite and Marble Company, a community-driven honor in which businesses are nominated by local residents and selected through public voting. “It’s so exciting,” Nick says. “It shows that the work we’ve been putting in is paying off and that the approach we’ve built is resonating not only with our partners, but with our clients and the community.”
