Partners in Business and in Life
David and Angela Pencsak, co-founders of Pencsak Builders in San Antonio, TX, have created a thriving luxury custom home business built on passion, craftsmanship, and teamwork. Their journey began when Angela, a professional photographer, was commissioned to capture one of David’s restaurant projects.
The meeting sparked a personal and professional connection, leading to marriage and a shared vision of a home for their blended family with four children. In 2012, frustrated by the lack of homes that met their standards, they decided to build their own. David’s 30 years of designing, building, and operating restaurants, coupled with Angela’s design sensibility, proved a winning combination. Once their home was completed, they built their first spec house based on that design. It sold for $1M before it was finished.
This success ignited a passion for home building, leading them to transition from restaurants and photography to Pencsak Builders. Their dynamic team of skilled artisans and dedicated management now crafts custom homes in San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country. Highlighting the team’s collaborative spirit, David adds, “Everyone here has a role, but we all have a good understanding of everything.”
Their partnership is a study in balance. With meticulous attention to detail, David keeps projects on schedule; while Angela, driven by “heart first” passion, infuses creativity into every home.
The Cambria Connection: What Matters Most
For Pencsak Builders, the goal is to blend exceptional construction with inspired design. This philosophy aligns perfectly with Cambria’s commitment to quality and innovation.
“Cambria matches well with our brand. Like us, they’re always innovating,” says Angela. “When we visited their KBIS booth, their unique fabrications really caught our eye—especially the striking fluted details and the dark Remington Steel™ design.”
Cambria’s bold designs and superior craftsmanship resonate with Angela. “Cambria surfaces have a luxurious, high-quality feel that sets them apart. We also love that they’re made in the USA and that Cambria is also a family-owned business,” she says.
Cambria surfaces—particularly Windsor Brass Satin Ridge countertops—were instrumental in Pencsak Builders’ success at the San Antonio Parade of Homes, where their mountain-resort-inspired property won top awards: Judges’ Choice, Best Interior Design, and Best Elevation. “On house tours, it was the surface people touched the most—they couldn’t get over it,” David recalls.
Beyond aesthetics, Cambria’s durability and maintenance-free features make it an ideal choice for luxury living. “I even tested it with my own wine glass,” says Angela.
For David, the Cambria transferable Lifetime Warranty provides peace of mind. “It’s reassuring to know Cambria’s trained professionals handle repairs,” he adds.
In addition to the product, they enjoy working with the Cambria team and having a relationship with a key vendor, which benefits their clients.

A Foundation in Hospitality
David’s restaurant design experience led him to luxury home building. “I wanted to be free to do creative things,” he says. “Working in the luxury market has given me the confidence to take design risks in creating unique homes for our clients.”
His experience also shaped his eye for space planning—an essential factor in Pencsak Builders’ signature designs. “We take pride in thoughtful details, from wider hallways for easy traffic flow to maximizing sightlines and connecting indoor and outdoor spaces,” he notes.

Commitment to Giving Back
Angela’s dad was a Vietnam veteran, and several Pencsak Builders employees also have military ties. Through the Greater San Antonio Builders Association, she partnered with Operation Triage to assist a local veteran in need of home repairs. After assessing the property, Pencsak Builders determined building a new home was the best solution—a project they proudly undertook. With premium materials generously provided by their vendors, including beautiful and durable Cambria quartz surfaces, they designed a home worthy of a hero and his family.

Looking to the Future
Like Cambria, Pencsak Builders is constantly evolving:
Building a Legacy: Their daughter Leah recently joined the business. A graduate of Texas Tech with a Management degree, she had planned to open a dance studio in San Antonio after college. But then she took a Family Business class. “Hearing about the legacy you can leave behind inspired me,” she says.
Expanding Services: Angela has launched an interior design firm to provide comprehensive services for clients seeking full-scale home styling, from furnishings to final details.
Innovative Projects: The team is embracing creative builds that reflect their clients’ lifestyles. One standout: a custom airplane hangar for a home in a neighborhood with a private runway. A central casita tower offers prime views of planes taking off and landing.
Pencsak Builders’ success stems from their commitment to quality, innovation, and a collaborative spirit. Their partnership with Cambria, a brand that shares their values, helps them create homes that are not only beautiful but also built to last.
