In Drew’s own home on Fire Island, New York, he wanted the interiors to be earthy and light. He thought about sand and when water or wind moves over the sand—what those patterns are like. That was the inspiration behind his Cambria quartz surface design selections for this vacation destination project.

The clean lines of this home’s interior are accentuated by Drew’s material choices. He wanted honest materials like wood and Cambria’s quartz surfaces. He mixed and matched four variations of white Cambria quartz designs throughout the house: Inverness Frost™Snowdon White™Everleigh™, and Salt Lake™*. And while he used the slabs in expected places like kitchen countertops, shower walls, and bathroom vanities, he also repeated the material in a few less expected places. Be sure to watch our video home tour with Drew for more about the home’s architectural details and its beautifully subtle moments that quietly elevate the entire space.

Statement meets subtle in this movement-rich quartz countertop design that features cool gray and warm, sand-honey tonalities, combining the best of bold patterns and soft, tone-on-tone design. The quartz surfaces pair perfectly with the natural wood cabinetry. Continuing the quartz surface above the windows creates visual consistency along with beautifully functional open shelving.

In this home’s bathrooms, floating vanities remain true to the architectural aesthetic of the island and are also space-saving. Visitors can bring a travel or beach bag right into the space and easily find extra space to put it while getting ready for the day or freshening up for the evening. Wall-mounted faucets free up valuable counter space, giving more room to organize bathroom essentials. A generously scaled quartz backsplash lends a refined look while elegantly safeguarding surrounding woodwork and the mirror from moisture, ensuring each element retains its beauty.

On this vanity, Cambria’s Snowdon White has delicate flecks of grays and tans that turn a simple design into a sensational one. Drew selected Inverness Frost for the shower walls in this classic and serene bathroom. The nonabsorbent surface has no grout lines so he can enjoy his vacation home without ever having to worry about mold or mildew, or ever needing to seal the surface. Soothing already, isn’t it?

It’s the durability and wearability combined with Cambria’s more modern designs that made it a great choice.

Drew embraces the architecture and location of a space when selecting materials for a project. For his Fire Island home, he wanted clean, bright, sandy, and natural tones like Cambria’s Snowdon White quartz design. Then, he likes to weave select materials throughout a home for continuity. In this project, he also worked to introduce unique application opportunities for Cambria like a beautiful and functional shelf above the bed in the primary bedroom.

My work is evolving to design healthy, calm, serene environments that provide a warm and inviting sensibility.

Cambria’s Salt Lake* design can give you the look of terrazzo with the durability of quartz. Its neutral ivory backdrop is speckled with tone-on-tone flecks giving this design a stylish yet understated look that feels of the moment while also timeless. Quartz fabrication can take a space a step further by including integrated features like a Cambria quartz vanity and sink. Beyond the beauty of this smooth modern look is that quartz can withstand daily use in higher-traffic areas like bathrooms.

As his own client for this Fire Island project, whenever Drew was stumped on a design decision, he remembered the simplicity of his mission—contemporary cedar and other honest materials like Cambria.
