For over 25 years, Kirkplan Kitchen & Bath has led residential renovation along Florida’s Gulf Coast, completing over 17,000 projects. Today, Nigel Jackson, son of the founder, manages Kirkplan from the company’s beautiful 8,000-square-foot Sarasota showroom—a destination for design enthusiasts, where Cambria natural quartz surfaces play a pivotal role.

Adaptable from the Start

Kirkplan’s story began in 1998, when Brian Jackson, Nigel’s father, moved from the U.K. to Sarasota, FL. With extensive kitchen design experience, he and his partner initially focused on then-popular cabinet refacing and began importing countertops. However, growing demand for new kitchens rather than cosmetic fixes soon shifted the business to building custom cabinetry and fabricating countertops in-house.

The Cambria Advantage

When customers began asking for granite and quartz surfaces, Kirkplan turned from fabricating its own countertops to working with third-party stone fabricators. “We partnered with three different companies but were still getting let down on lead times,” Nigel says. The solution: opening its own stone fabrication shop—which coincided with a moment when Cambria was again transforming the quartz industry.

Cambria’s reputation for innovation had long caught Nigel’s attention, but the tipping point came in 2011 with the launch of Cambria’s Waterstone Collection™. “The movement and depth in those designs were unparalleled,” Nigel says.

Ever since then, the partnership has flourished. Kirkplan is now a Cambria Premier Partner in Sarasota and Bradenton, FL. And Cambria comprises approximately 95% of all surfaces Kirkplan installs. “The designs are beautiful, the product is U.S.-made, and the transferable Full Lifetime Warranty is a huge selling point,” Nigel states, adding, “Their service is second to none.”

Nigel recalls Cambria’s critical support during the Covid-19 pandemic. “They went above and beyond,” he shares. “I’d call them maybe once a month, desperate for a couple of slabs, and they found them. That support is unmatched.” He also values Cambria’s dedicated post-installation service: “The repair technicians are amazing. If there’s a chip, they fix it—and you cannot see where it was fixed.”

Our success is about people—our team, customers, and partners. Cambria has always been a true partner. The product is beautiful, but it’s the service and innovation that keep us coming back.

A Vision Realized

By 2021, Kirkplan entered a new strategic phase. As client demands grew, the company also became a comprehensive general contractor, integrating electrical, plumbing, tiling, and structural modifications.

Today, Kirkplan’s Sarasota showroom features eight full working kitchens, a complete bathroom, and a dedicated room showcasing Italian-inspired closets, alongside a collection of smaller displays. “I didn’t want clutter,” Nigel says. “I wanted every piece to stand out. So when a customer walks in, they can say, ‘Wow, this is the size of my kitchen—this is what it could look like.’”

Projects That Please

Kirkplan’s clients have selected Cambria surfaces for a wide range of applications, from chef’s kitchens to a backlit wine room to expansive fireplace walls. Here are two favorite examples:

Greyhawk Landing Home: Four Cambria quartz designs helped transform this home remodel for a growing family.

Windsor Brass Satin Ridge enhanced the stunning transformation of a small, dark, and dated kitchen into an expanded modern and light-filled heart of the home. It appears on the countertops, the backsplash, and the island with a waterfall edge. It also appears on countertops in the laundry room.

The couple also chose:

  • Golden Dragon™ for the living room fireplace surround and cabinet countertops
  • Skara Brae® with a waterfall edge in one guest bathroom
  • Harlow™ on countertops in another guest bathroom

Skye Ranch Kitchen: You’ll find Berkshire Steel Sculpted™, a tactile surface with steel veins, right at home in this modern kitchen. It graces countertops, an island with a waterfall edge, and a floating bar—which, along with the motorized cabinetry, showcases Kirkplan’s stellar remodeling skills.

Designing the Future

Future growth opportunities include an exclusive partnership with Snaidero, a high-end Italian cabinetry line. Nigel envisions pairing Snaidero’s craftsmanship with Cambria’s bold designs and Kirkplan’s custom fabrication to elevate the sophistication of client projects.
