DESIGN TREND - Concrete Countertops - Not Always a Solid Idea
A recent trend - many consumers are considering concrete countertops to create an industrial, "loft" look.
However, when compared to other surfacing materials that offer a similar look, concrete may not be the best
option. Concrete is susceptible to chipping and cracking. Moreover, concrete is porous and subject to
staining if not maintained with sealers, conditioners, cleaners or wax. When food and moisture penetrate
a porous surface such as concrete or granite,
harmful bacteria begins to grow. Cambria is nonporous and has been certified by NSF International
as a safe surface for food preparation.
Cambria's Sussex™ or Fieldstone™ can provide an industrial look similar to concrete, but with all the benefits of quartz. Concrete tends to have a matte, solid finish; only Cambria can give you a high gloss, reflective surface. And no need to worry about stains or cracks, the strength and durability of Cambria is protected by a 10 Year Limited Warranty; something you typically won't receive with concrete countertops.

ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES - Two Countertop Colors, One Unified Kitchen Design
One of the fastest growing trends in kitchen design is incorporating two different countertop colors
into one design. Typically, you'll see a center island in one color and the perimeter or surrounding
countertops in a second,
complementary color.
This can create a dramatic focal point in the center of
your kitchen and is a compelling use of color and texture. Unlike granite, which is difficult to design
with more than one color in a room, Cambria offers three different color collections that can be mixed
and matched to create a unified design. For more information, see the
video segments recently featured on HGTV
and the complementary colors section of our web site. And, just for inspiration, see the Feature Photo
below for an example of how Cambria's
complementary colors
can be used in a contemporary bathroom.

TELL YOUR STORY
Cambria invites you to share your kitchen or bathroom makeover story. What better way to learn what to do (and not to do)
when embarking on a remodeling project than to hear it straight from homeowners themselves. We're asking you to share the
ups and downs and everything in between when it comes to remodeling your home. One story will be featured in the December
issue of Design Trends and posted on the Cambria website. The contributing homeowner will receive a special gift from Cambria.
To help, we've come up with the following questions as a guide:
- Why did you decide to remodel?
- What surprised you the most throughout the remodeling process?
- What was the best/worst part about the remodeling process?
- What advice would you give a friend about to embark on their own kitchen or bath remodel?
