CAMBRIA AND THE ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION LAUNCH CAMP CAMBRIA
Registration is now open to children with juvenile arthritis for August 10-15, 2014
Minneapolis, MN (February 27, 2014) – Cambria, the exclusive family-owned, American made natural stone producer in North America, and the Arthritis Foundation Upper Midwest Region announce the launch of Camp Cambria on August 10 – 15, 2014. Camp Cambria is a six-day residential camp for children ages 8-17 who have juvenile arthritis (JA) or a related condition.
“Opening Camp Cambria will be life-changing for children with juvenile arthritis. Camp Cambria will offer these children opportunities to connect with other kids facing similar challenges while experiencing a week at camp. The bonds formed are tremendous, even lifelong,” explains Dr. Richard Vehe, Pediatric Rheumatologist.
Before Camp Cambria, there was only one camp available to the 13,000 children fighting juvenile arthritis in the Upper Midwest region. “When the great need for an additional juvenile arthritis camp was brought to our attention, we knew it was something we wanted to be a part of,” says Marty Davis, Cambria President and CEO. “Camp Cambria has the opportunity to provide laughter and joy to the many children living with juvenile arthritis in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin, that’s what we will strive to accomplish.”
Camp Cambria will take place in Maple Lake, Minnesota on the grounds of Camp Courage, a residential campsite designed specifically for children with physical disabilities. Camp Cambria will offer a vast range of activities and provide important tools and resources related to self-esteem and disease management for juvenile arthritis campers.
“We look forward to welcoming JA kids at Camp Cambria this summer with programming designed specifically for them, facilitated by counselors and medical staff,” said Liz Atchison, Regional Juvenile Arthritis Manager. “They will experience a variety of recreational activities including fishing, swimming, rope courses and boating. Our history and success in Wisconsin with Camp M.A.S.H. gives us a great model to replicate in Minnesota with Camp Cambria. We are thrilled to offer this amazing experience for more kids with arthritis through the generous support of Marty Davis and Cambria.”
Join Team Cambria for the Juvenile Arthritis March (JAM) this Saturday, March 1 at 7:00am to 9:30am CST in the Mall of America Rotunda for the official Camp Cambria announcement!
